By the beginning of the war in Chechnya, the legendary Major Izmailov worked in the military registration and enlistment office of the city of Zhukovsky. Having buried the first conscript who died during the storming of Grozny, he refused to send 18-year-old children to death and went to Chechnya himself to take out the prisoners. And he freed at least 174 people. The film uses a rare chronicle of the Chechen wars from the private archives of mothers who were looking for their sons in Chechnya, as well as negotiating officers from the working group on the exchange of prisoners. These women were to be born and live in Moscow. They are the children of Muscovites who were repressed in the 30s and 40s of the last century. There are not many of them, only about 1,500 left for the whole country. All their lives, the “children of the GULAG” have been living in exile, although their parents have been officially rehabilitated, and the law guarantees them the right to return to their former place of residence. In 2019, they won the case in the Constitutional Court, but the State Duma is in no hurry to amend the legislation, and the government proposes to stand in the general queue for housing and wait another 30 years. Meanwhile, every month the number of children in the Gulag is decreasing.

Thirty years ago Soviet citizens woke up and saw Swan Lake on TV. A putsch began in the USSR: part of the party elite removed President Mikhail Gorbachev from power. The GKChP members tried to tighten the screws and take away freedom from the media. The journalists then fought the censorship and won. In 2021, the profession of a journalist in Russia will be called prohibited: dozens of people will become “foreign agents” and will be forced to leave Russia, and many independent media will recognize them as “undesirable”.

Galina Starovoitova entered politics two years before the collapse of the USSR, at the time of radical changes in the country; and all her activities over the course of ten years, until the moment of the murder, was both a hit on time and a fantastic advance. She was a real politician of the 90s, built a young Russian democracy, looked to the future with hope, soberly and bitterly assessing the present. But she can also be safely called a politician of the XXI century: Galina Starovoitova spoke about the most important current problems of our society, ahead of her time by several decades.

The rally in support of Alexei Navalny was initially called for in the center of Moscow, on Lubyanskaya Square, but the authorities blocked all approaches to it. Then some of the demonstrators went to the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center, where Navalny was. The police hunted them, cutting off individual groups and using force. There were not enough places for detention in Moscow, and therefore the detainees were sent to the Center for the temporary detention of foreign citizens in Sakharovo near Moscow. As a result, an unusual group of people gathered in the special detention center - almost a thousand young men and women who were close in spirit. This film is their memories of their days behind bars.

A year has passed since the presidential elections in Belarus, when the current government harshly suppressed protests against falsified results. Thousands of people are still in prisons, tens of thousands were forced to go abroad. Among the new emigrants there are politicians, they are even called the government in exile. And there are ordinary citizens who could not even imagine that they would ever have to leave their homeland. The film tells how this Belarus lives, a huge community of migrants that has emerged over the past year. Female circumcision is the name given to female genital mutilation. Female circumcision is practiced, including in the North Caucasus. There is no age limit; both an adult woman and a baby can trim the clitoris and labia. Most often girls 5-12 years old are circumcised. The authors spoke with women who were circumcised, found out where this mutilating rite came from and how it relates to Islam, and also answered the question of why the numerous victims are silent.
