The war surrounds Dmitry Poshtarenko everywhere. At the age of five, he found his first soldier in the courtyard of the house. Since then, Dmitry has been constantly involved in the search for soldiers who died during the Second World War. Determines the identity of the deceased, searches for his relatives, transfers the preserved things, resurrecting the memory of him. A few years ago, Dmitry decided to create images of missing soldiers in the form of sculptures frozen during the battle. Now he is surrounded by hundreds of newborn people, in whose eyes there is a dumb question, for what they died and why did they return to this crippled world?

Enlisting the help of the tsar, Prokudin-Gorsky captured thousands of objects on the territory of the entire Russian Empire. The film tells about the fate and professional feat of Prokudin-Gorsky, gives a panorama of the pre-revolutionary empire and portraits of its contemporaries. In the footsteps of Prokudin-Gorsky, the film crew of Leonid Parfyonov visited 12 regions to see for themselves the changes that had taken place in the country. The film was attended by the grandchildren of Prokudin-Gorsky, who live in France, as well as experts from the US Library of Congress.

Alongside other ancient professions, gravediggers have inherited knowledge and skills through several generations - not only in digging holes but also in Latvia's rich cemetery culture, where everything has its order. Latvia's cemeteries are where traditions from different centuries meet, and every gravedigger needs to know them so that he or she can continue to receive the stamps for the job of digging graves. The most experienced of them have already received 5 000 such stamps, which is equivalent to the population of one town in Latvia.
