With the assassination in 1948 by state security officers of the head of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, Solomon Mikhoels, new times begin in the relationship between the Soviet government and Jews. The liquidation of the JAC, the execution of its activists, and the campaign against the "rootless cosmopolitans" form a new state anti-Semitism. The death of Stalin will cancel the massacre, but the former official Russian-Jewish harmony under socialism will no longer be restored. Popularly known superstars have not diminished: Botvinnik is the main chess player, Raikin is the main comedian, Plisetskaya is the main ballerina, Galich and Vysotsky are the main bards, many famous names in various fields, from nuclear physics to light music. But Jews have ceased to be co-authors of Russian communism. And they are no longer allowed into politics, and they themselves are especially actively engaged in "anti-Soviet activities." Without the Jews, the shadow economy is unimaginable, or rather “illegal business”, for which death sentences have been handed down since the early 1960s. And from the middle of the decade, the dissident movement begins to shake the system; the grandchildren of Jewish revolutionaries bring into it the same ardor and fearlessness that their grandfathers did in the overthrow of tsarism. Allowing Jewish emigration in the 1970s makes nationality a means of rejecting socialism and will prove to be a more frequent reason for leaving than the opportunity to reverse one's Russian assimilation. Finally, the collapse of the USSR will put an end to the "Jewish question" in the form in which the last Soviet generations found it.

What would be the shortest route between the Mesopotamia in Argentina and China's Shanghai? Since these two places are antipodes in relation to each other, then they would be the most common straight line drawn through the center of the Earth. Viktor Kosakovsky had to circumnavigate the globe three times to make the film Long Live the Antipodes, a look at a world in which people live at opposite ends. Kosakovsky visited four such diametrically opposed points, and everywhere he searched for deep connections between such different worlds. The vertical axes are drawn between Argentina and China, New Zealand and Spain, Siberia and Chile, Hawaii and Botswana. Like a kaleidoscope of bright pictures of our planet, the film was the answer to the main question, so who are they, our antipodes? And are we that different? The author's conceptual point of view reveals deep connections between people and landscapes located as far as possible from each other.

Ivanna is a young Nenets woman and mother of five, living in the Russian Arctic. Like her family for centuries before, she has led a traditional nomadic life in the tundra, driving a herd of reindeer. Most of them die, and she knows she will soon be left without a livelihood and be forced to make a dramatic decision. The film is about four years of a Nenets family from the harsh life in the tundra to modern everyday life in the Siberian city of Dudinka. It is both a liberating drama and a melancholy requiem for a lost way of life.

This documentary is a collage of stories about the challenges of life at the crossroads of eras, where the traditional nomadic culture of Mongolia meets the all-pervasive globalization of the 21st century. Through a close up on the daily life of several characters, both in provinces of Mongolia and its capital city Ulan Bator, we can see through their eyes how the centuries-old traditions of the former empire, the memory of the great ancestors, and modern social transformations are trying to co-exist in the globalized world of today.

In Chukotka, on the coast of the Arctic Ocean, people live, cut off from the whole world. Their life revolves around hunting walruses and whales and protecting villages from bears coming from the tundra. This turns the film into a meditation on death. Marine animals are the main source of food for humans; skins and offal are used to feed arctic foxes on a fur farm; human cemeteries become food for bears. All inhabitants of these places are involved in the cycle of food and death. The film departs from the usual rhythmic structure of cinema, being built on the principle of a shamanic ritual, a meaning-forming event for the northern peoples.
