The exchange of old Soviet passports for new Russian passports is a milestone in the life of the country. A provincial travel photographer wanders around remote Siberian villages and takes pictures of their inhabitants for new passports. But sometimes they will invite you to film the wedding. And somewhere you can buy a piglet. Following the village photographer and carefully observing everyday rural life, the filmmakers create a kind of poetic canvas that tells about the worldview of people living in the Russian outback at the junction of two cultures, Soviet and modern. The film won an award at the Russia Open Documentary Film Festival in Yekaterinburg.

Siberia. The sparsely populated village of Krotovo. Farmer Vasily Dmitrievich Abramov lives in the village completely alone, since in 2005 his sons were convicted of murder and sentenced to long prison terms. The film, which was filmed for 10 years, is the last work of the classic of Russian documentary film Valery Solomin. It was completed by his sons Evgeny and Viktor Solomin.

In the 20s, during the Civil War, a unique case arises, namely, a Russian general of German origin leads the Asian Cavalry Division and liberates Mongolia from Chinese invaders. Siberia. The last four houses remained in the old village on the Angara River. Before the eyes of their inhabitants, they burned a large village and continue to burn. The hands of Siberian prisoners are cleaning up the bed of the new reservoir of the fourth hydroelectric power station on the river. Tractors work menacingly around the huts that have survived so far. The villagers meet every new day with fear that they will be burned down. But, despite this, they do not leave their home. This is the last year of the life of the Angarsk village.

The film covers the period from the end of the XIX century. to the 60s of the twentieth century. from the moment of construction of the future Novosibirsk section of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the railway bridge across the Ob to the creation of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

We saw how villages disappear without a trace from the face of the earth. We have found people who yearn for a non-existent smaller homeland. We found the Siberian Robinson and learned the secret of his escape.
