The film was shot in the outback of Chattisgarh state on a small farm, where the author was visiting the followers of the mystic poet St. Kabir, who preached the unity of all religions, the one God and the equality of all, the king and the beggar, man and woman. Peace of St. Kabira intersperses in the film with the world of the local school, located next to the ashram, creating a somewhat phantasmagoric image of this farm.
