A story about a community of Armenians, refugees from the USSR during the Baku pogroms, living in a deep American province. Baku life, Armenian blood, Soviet mentality and American emigration mixed in an incredible tragicomic proportion. Everyone went through the “Events”, as they call the war in Nagorno-Karabakh (the word itself is taboo). Everyone was forced to flee "in pajamas." The Armenian cemetery in Baku was asphalted. They were expelled from the city in 1988. They were not allowed out of the Soviet Union. The union collapsed. America accepted. They have been living in the USA for 30 years, everything is fine, they have adapted to a new life (financially). But thoughts remained in the USSR.

Some try to analyze the phenomenon of the writer Dovlatov, others talk about the features of his character, others recall incidents from the life of Sergei, but they all agree on one thing: in America, their Sergei finally became happy.

An attempt by the authors to tell about another, little-known side of the Chechen war. Tell me why, at a time when there were peppy reports on the restoration of constitutional order on Russian television, hundreds of soldiers and officers were almost officially given into slavery to the Chechens? Why were only relatives involved in their fate, while the prisoners themselves remained the subject of bargaining? Why, when liberating Grozny from militants during the second Chechen campaign, soldiers and officers were often sacrificed by the high command.

About the Yalta Conference, the meeting of Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill, which took place in February 1945 and determined the fate of the post-war world, mountains of books have been written and many films have been shot. It would seem that these events have long been known. But only relatively recently, thanks to the research of the famous Russian historian William Pokhlebkin, we became aware of the details of the grandiose "culinary" action, a series of banquets that accompanied the negotiations of the allies in the devastated Crimea that war winter. For obvious reasons, these feasts could not fall into the field of view of the then newsreels. But miraculously preserved materials give us the opportunity to feel their scale and specific atmosphere. No one claims that the materials are documentary.
