The protagonist of the picture is a descendant of an old noble family, Viktor Alexandrovich Galagan, a ballet dancer, a graduate of the Leningrad Theater School, now a teacher at a children's ballet school. The son of a famous scientist-economist, one of the founders of Soviet accounting. As a teenager, together with his father, he was subjected to repression. Viktor Alexandrovich's memories of the life of his ancestors are intertwined with his real life in an old dacha in the Moscow region with a dozen beloved dogs and Dunya, a housekeeper.
