Mongun-Taiga is the highest peak in Tuva and all of Eastern Siberia. In these mountains, yaks (sarlyks) roam, and Tuvan yak-herders live as they did a thousand years ago. They believe in shamans and revere the spirits of Nature. Their children go off to war and do not return. Only those who cannot live without these wild spaces and the dizzying feeling of freedom remain in the mountains.
