On September 30, 1985, all the world news agencies spread sensational news that four Soviet diplomats were kidnapped in Beirut. A hitherto unknown terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack. Soldiers of the top-secret Vympel state security unit are sent to the Lebanese capital. Yury Drozdov, head of the KGB's illegal intelligence service, is confident that only "special-purpose intelligence officers", whom he personally selected and trained, are able to find the optimal solution to this problem.
