It's painful when close and dear people run out of time to talk. Two brothers—an older and a younger one. Memories of carefree happiness and a time when they shared common dreams: to become musicians, to play in an orchestra together.
Dima, now a conductor, prepares to go on stage. Childhood memories and a lingering quarrel with his younger brother, Denis, haunt him. They have not spoken for years, and neither remembers why. Different interests and paths have kept them apart. Denis stayed in their hometown of Yaroslavl, working as a welder, choosing his own life.
When they meet, silence fills the space between them. They try to talk but cannot. They don’t know what to say, nor do they dare to speak. They missed their chance to talk in time, and now it’s difficult to take the first step. Childhood memories and shared dreams remain buried within Dima, ultimately inspiring his performance of Taneyev's cantata "John of Damascus."
