On 25 January, 1995, Norwegian and American scientists launch a rocket from northern Norway to study the northern lights. The rocket triggers a false alert in Russia of an incoming nuclear attack. Russian President Boris Yeltsin and the Russian military have just a few minutes to respond. "Sound the Alarm" investigates the 1995 False Alert and growing post-Cold War nuclear danger, examining how easily miscommunication, misunderstanding, or dis/misinformation can escalate to a decision to launch nuclear weapons.
