On July 1, 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that prohibits publicly comparing the roles and actions of Nazi Germany and the USSR during World War II. The law will add to the arsenal of legislative acts that impede the work of historians, activists and nongovernmental organizations dealing with the Soviet past. In continuation of the report "Russia: Crimes against History", published on June 10, director Olga Kravets, with the support of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), created a short film shedding light on the policy of the Russian authorities aimed at creating a monopoly on historical memory.
