In the fate of one of the greatest athletes, David Rigert, the high and the ordinary, despair and hope are intricately intertwined. He had to both triumph in moments of unprecedented success, and adequately accept defeat, rise and recover after a crushing fall. Rigert competed and won at the Olympic Games, won six world championships, nine European championships, setting 63 world records. But the main thing is that Rigert was a great stage artist.
