The film's main character, Olya, lives in Moscow. She sends her youngest daughter off to first grade and, at the same time, learns about her incurable diagnosis—amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Doctors give her only two years to live. Olya struggles to cope with the disease while maintaining contact with her father, who lives in Nikopol, a city still under shelling.
