Film monologue of the philologist, translator Lilianna Lungina about the life of the soul and the world around. With ruthless vigilance, considering her own development from childhood to the last days, she makes internal events no less fascinating than external ones. Her story is a unique combination of confession and scale, large-scale and general plan: it is both a portrait and a fresco, because the heroine does not lose sight of the general, social life for a minute, trying to present to the audience the fate of Russia and, to some extent, Europe in the 20th century.
