The theme of the documentary "Distances" is the story of a family that is part of the growing economic migration from South Asia, which has significantly expanded in Poland and across Central Europe in recent years. Shiv, Shushila, and their son Nikesh traveled from Nepal to Poland with the hope of finding a better life. Shiv works for Uber and is rarely at home, Shushila remains mentally connected to her homeland, maintaining contact exclusively with the Nepalese family, and Nikesh is a teenager with a strong desire to integrate with his peers. The change in their lives leads to the breakdown of Shiv and Shushila's relationship, and the lack of care for their son pushes Nikesh onto a troubled path. The film about a disintegrating family is a portrayal of the price one must pay today when coming to Europe.
