Two students are sent to the Arctic Circle. The far north opens up for them in the most magical and eerie manifestations. In search of an answer to the question "Why do people live in such hellish conditions?" they descend into the mine, meet with red-hot metal, open the ski season and communicate with the inhabitants of the northern city.
