The documentary film “Not an Accidental Architect” is dedicated to Alexander Viktorovich Kuzmin, who for sixteen years—from 1996 to 2012—served as Moscow’s chief architect and played a major role in shaping the city’s contemporary appearance. He oversaw around thirty completed projects, many of which sparked professional debate and criticism, yet it is now impossible to imagine modern Moscow without them. Kuzmin called himself an “accidental architect,” but once he chose his profession, he never deviated from it, climbing every rung of the career ladder.
