An ethnographic docu-fantasy.
Selkie — a girl in the form of a seal — sheds her skin and returns to the human world to rediscover what it means to be human, to be alive. Her journey stretches from the Atlantic coast deep into the continent, crossing several American states — a passage through different cultures and ways of seeing the world.
Seen through Selkie’s eyes, the human world is filled with mesmerizing, and at times unsettling, ritual acts whose meaning remains unknown to her.
