Just a few pictures left from the living legend, captain Kozlov. Three pre-revolutionary – Cossack with a dashing mustache, surrounded by friends, family… The last - posthumous in 1930. Ridiculously holding the rifle, given especially for the photo by the executioners, in plain clothes, eyes closed, as if he was asleep, but not alive … His name was used to frighten small children. He was feared, death squads were sent to kill him. For more than ten years, he fought with the government almost single-handedly! Some honored and helped him, others feared and hated, but all piled about him as of a legend... Today his name is almost forgotten. So who really was Nikita Kozlov? A cruel bandit or Robin Hood, according to one version, the keeper of the Cossack Kuban gold in caves? After the defeat in the civil war he could go across the border, or could accept the new power and live as many did, but he remained on the Kuban... Why and for what? Why did he doom himself and his family to pain and suffering? Our film does not seek to divide people into red and white. It's just a part of our history. Where people lived, made decisions, loved, fought and died.
