A popular science documentary film about the mechanisms of the famine of 1932-1933 in the Soviet Union and the process of the emergence of the "Holodomor" theme, and, as a result, its transformation into the rhetoric of "genocide" in modern socio-political processes. The plot tells how in modern society the world perceives the events of the history of the famine of the 30s, which, objectively, was a side effect of industrialization, which was extremely necessary for the Soviet state in those days. In addition, hunger proved to be a common problem and knew no national or ethnic boundaries. The location of the film is concentrated on the Don, in the Volga region, the Tyumen region and in Kazakhstan.
