At the end of 1950, a steamship from Argentina carrying 180 sculptures made of wood, marble, plaster, bronze and even cement with a total weight of about 175 tons landed in Odessa. For the sculptor Stepan Erzya, returning to his homeland was a step into the abyss. Having gone through all the circles, having visited his paradise, the creator again returned to purgatory. What for? What did he expect from a country, from a mother who had treated her son more than once like a stepmother?
