The story of the collision of an ordinary person with the state system. Latvian Artur Stradins was arrested as an "enemy of the people" and sent to a labor camp near Vyatka. He didn't smoke, but was listed as a "smoker" and received a ration of tobacco and cigarette paper. He exchanged tobacco for food, and kept a diary on paper. According to historians, the diary has a colossal power of authenticity. There are practically no documents of this kind in Russia. There are very few of them all over the world. It is no coincidence that the diary of Anne Frank is widely known.
