“Why do Czech tourists every year in beach shoes fall down the steep slopes of our coast, why do they sail into the open sea towards inevitable death on unsuitable catamarans? The fact is that in spirit they remain cartoon characters of our common past, Pat and Mat, Bolek and Lolek. They refuse to grow up, and I envy them,” says Croatian journalist Boris Dezhulovich in his article “The Unfortunate Tourist Švejk”. Will Croats help us see ourselves without rose-colored glasses? Is it possible to bring something else from a seaside vacation besides a tan and cleansed lungs? What does the fact that a million of us go on holiday to Croatia say about the Czechs? How do we dress there, where we live, how do we spend our days there, what do we eat, how do we have fun in the evenings?
