This film is about the Russian general Yakov Petrovich Baklanov (1809 - 1873). He was one of the outstanding heroes of the Caucasian War, a legend of the Russian army. The grateful Cossacks have always honored the memory of their marching chieftain and beloved commander. The funds raised by them were used to erect a monument at Baklanov's grave in St. Petersburg.
