The story of Tarkovsky today, in fact, has become a bargaining chip in very serious cultural and ideological and other disputes. This film tells about exile, or rather, emigration, covert and overt, voluntary or involuntary, active or passive, which is still one of the most pressing issues in Russian society. The case of Andrei Tarkovsky, the greatest domestic director of the second half of the 20th century, who left for Italy in 1982 to shoot Nostalgia, presented in Cannes from Italy, but produced by her together with Sovinfilm, and in 1984 who declared that he will not return to his homeland, is still actively discussed.
