This project explores the Russian Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. For decades, the newsroom has continued its work despite changing political regimes, persecution, and censorship. “Radio Liberty” has been repeatedly targeted and shut down. In this documentary series, journalists from the Russian Service of RFE/RL reflect on how their profession and major historical events have shaped their lives, reveal what the newsroom looks like from the inside, and recall a time when journalism in Russia was not considered a crime.
