This is a story about the emergence and uniqueness of Ural music, based on the life of a specific musician, Nikolai Shabunevich from Yekaterinburg, Russia. Creating music is Nikolai's passion, but the local specifics of the Russian music industry leave their mark on his professional path. Nikolai has to combine several jobs: an English teacher at the university, a radio host, and a master of ceremonies at a jazz club, a film and game translator, in order to be able to create authentic and sincere music and build a unique community around himself. Nikolai strives to go beyond just Russian-language music, hoping that it will be heard not only in his region and country but also worldwide.
