A well known Russian physics professor is celebrating his 90th birthday with his family and colleagues. As he gets closer to unwanted retirement, his love-hate relationship with his wife becomes more complicated, depression is deepening, and his main joy is the ability to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren. After Russia invades Ukraine, he is left disconnected from his entire family who has remained abroad, forcing him to keep traveling to see them despite his growing difficulty to do so. Further and Further portrays the current reality playing out in Russia through the prism of an outspoken and critical Russian intellectual and from the camera of his granddaughter.
