Documentary film about the feat of the Ugra signalman Matvey Putilov, a participant in the Battle of Stalingrad. In the fall of 1942, he risked his life and went to restore contact with headquarters. While performing a combat mission, Matvey received shrapnel wounds to his hands. He clenched the ends of the broken wire with his teeth. Communication was restored, but the brave signalman never left the battlefield.
