In the late 40s of the 20th century, the settlement of Uchma, once formed on the banks of the Volga near the ancient Kassian Monastery, fell into the flood zone of the Rybinsk reservoir. However, the unexpected happened. The foundations of the monastery churches, destroyed in the 30s, formed a stone spit, becoming an insurmountable barrier to rising water. So Uchma, contrary to all calculations, remained on land. Half a century has passed. In the 90s, she again found herself on the verge of destruction and again miraculously survived.
