Arriving in Rome for the first time a few months after being forced to emigrate, Joseph Brodsky returned to Italy almost every year, usually combining a Christmas trip to Rome and Venice. The Nobel laureate will describe his stay at the American Academy in Rome as a "shortcut to Paradise" and the best time of his life. The film shows Brodsky's Rome as he knew and loved it.
