Their names were Nadezhda, Alexandra and Galina. They were from Belarus and Russia. They were partisans and actively fought against the fascist invaders in their country before they were arrested by the Germans. It was the beginning of hell. After horrific torture and an endless journey in boxcars, they arrive in Thiel, a quiet little town in Lorraine. It houses a concentration camp, a crematorium, and an iron mine converted into a V1 rocket factory. Hundreds of women work like slaves at the bottom of the mine. Many of them will never return home. But 37 women managed to escape with the help of the French Resistance on May 8, 1944. Hiding in the forest of Argon, they decide to continue their struggle and form the only women's detachment "Motherland" in the French Resistance.
