Far in the north of our continent, on the Taymyr Peninsula — well beyond any major settlements — flows the Popigay River. On its banks lies the small reindeer herders’ village of Novy Popigay, home to the Dolgans, a small and endangered Indigenous people of the North.
Life in this region is a constant struggle for survival. The foundation of Dolgan life and culture — reindeer herding — is now under threat, as a mysterious epidemic has struck the reindeer.
