Two years ago, only a few people knew about the amazing story of a 93-year-old veteran from the small town of Berezovsky near Yekaterinburg. Today, the name of Nikolai Vasenin is known to millions of people not only in Russia, but also abroad. He spent a year and a half in German concentration camps, managed to escape and continued the war in partisan detachments in France. Vasenin participated in the liberation of Marseille, Toulon, Paris. Received the Cross of Resistance from the hands of General De Gaulle. He chose to return to the USSR in order to continue the war on the Far Eastern front. After a short interrogation in Odessa, Vasenin was sentenced to 15 years in the camps "for treason."
