A unique film observation of the life of employees under investigation and convicted in one of the oldest prisons in Russia, the Butyrka prison castle, which keeps many secrets and legends about such prisoners as Emelyan Pugachev, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Sergei Korolev and many others. The film includes interviews and observations of the life of prisoners in prison, where the same events take place as in the daily life of a "man at large", work, a church holiday with a religious procession, elections to the State Duma, New Year, staging a performance.
