The film is based on Ilya Repin's autobiographical book Far Close. Screen version of the events of the time when a young Russian artist went on a journey along the Volga to study the typical images of barge haulers. Before the eyes of the audience, pictures of events almost two hundred years ago will come to life. The viewer will follow the course of life and the creative search of the young artist Ilya Repin in Samarskaya Luka, in the village of Shiryaevo, in the summer of 1870.
