At Staglieno the everyday and eternal continuously face each other through mundane acts of living. Indeed, for a place that at first glance seems all about death, Staglieno is curiously alive.

The film is dedicated to the problems of domestic violence and non-observance of women's rights in the North Caucasus. In Dagestan, 11,000 people are registered for domestic violence. In the film, 4 women tell their stories of dealing with domestic violence to varying degrees: severe beatings, charges for having a child with a disability, the death of 2 sons in a fire, as well as 10 years of using illegal drugs and escaping into a shelter for victims of domestic violence. This is only a small part of what the heroines had to face.

Tomasz Wojciechowski, captain of the Prison Service, runs the author's rehabilitation program. A group of detainees gets into the care of aggressive dogs from the shelter. Under the captain's guidance, they have 8 weeks to train them to be suitable for adoption. If they fail, the dogs will be put down. Among the students is Rafał – a tough and shrewd prisoner with a long sentence for murder. Work with his ward Odi, step by step, he is letting to surface his hidden emotions. For Captain Tom, this edition of the course is the last one. The prison bureaucracy machine effectively undercuts the wings of his ideals. With the feeling of defeat, he is leaving the service right after the course. Rafał is already a different man. His friendship with Odi has reset his life priorities.

This happened in early 1916 - the Julian Alps in the Slovenian territory were in the very heat of the devastating First World War. Many people were sent to the mountains, mostly Russian prisoners of war. Once, when building a road in the middle of the mountains, a terrible avalanche occurred, many people died. After the tragedy, the Russian prisoners built a small Orthodox chapel on the Vršić Pass, and it still stands there. In 2006, the dilapidated building was reconstructed with the help of the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia, every year here are held the days of commemoration, remembrance of those killed in the First World War.

The communist poet Nazim Hikmet, after serving 17 years in Turkish prisons, fled to the Soviet Union as the country of victorious communism. Communism turned out to be a hoax, it lost its homeland forever. The Turkish word "hasret" (longing) is one of the few Turkish words that his adopted daughter learned. His heart could not stand the melancholy and hypocrisy of Soviet life, he died early and was buried in Moscow, where he was safely forgotten. But this old story becomes suddenly very relevant during the referendum in Istanbul.
